programs include our Retail Donation Partnership (RDP) Program and our
Dream Makers Inc. wish granting program.  A number of other program are

most ongoing need we have for volunteers right now stem from our RDP
program as well as the fundraising events we hold throughout the year.

Helen Keller National Center (Sands Point)
Opportunities include socializing with students, assisting on trips,
participating in recreational activities on campus and assisting with clerical
activities in the various departments. The minimum age to volunteer is 16.
Hours are weekly from 9 am to 9 pm. All volunteers are required to
participate in a five hour training session.  Sessions are scheduled
periodically throughout the year.

Helping Hands Behavioral Outreach (Old Bethpage)
We have a peer mentor training program. We are open every Saturday from
10 am to 3 pm. No minimum age requirement. Every Friday night teens are
needed from 6-9 pm to participate in community trips for our Friday Night
Teen Hang Out Program.

Long Island Center for Independent Living, Inc. (Levittown)
Volunteers are needed at special events the Center sponsors for
consumers. Usually these events are on weekends, during the day for 4 to
5 hours.  Minimum age 16, disability sensitive training will be provided,
instructions given to volunteers at special event or a few days before.

Mental Health Association of Nassau County (Hempstead)
Volunteers are needed to be a friend to someone recovering from mental
illness. Daytime/Evenings 1-2 hours per week.

Work in many different capacities with developmentally disabled children
and young adults at the Sea Cliff campus.

Socialize with, and provide recreational activities for, autistic children on
Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm. The program is located on the grounds of
